Tournament: UniCredit German Ladies Open at Hausern 2, Munich
Date: May 24th - 27th 2012
It was my first visit to Germany, and it didn't disappoint. Despite having been completely exhausted from not having slept for 36hrs, Sahra, Chris and I all decided to walk the course. We arrived at Güt Hausern and I was blown away by the enormity of the event. There were huge 2 tier Marquees, numerous little tents for all the new golf gizmo's on offer, VIP lounges, food stands, grand stands, large monitors for watching live play, Audi's floating on water as well as the Audi shuttle service for the players. If you were lucky enough to get a Hole-in-One on 15, there would be an Audi R8 waiting for you! The organisation that had gone into everything was very impressive.
Going back to the Audi R8; after making the cut on Friday I was lucky enough to be the first to test drive the new R8 V10 Spyder. Rahel Frey ( a DTM driver for Audi) was my instructor, we had an awesome time, I couldn't stop smiling all day!

So, back to the golf...The 1st round was good, I made a solid start (-3) which put me tied for 7th. Friday however, was a struggle, but I battled well and was in a good position going into the weekend.
Saturday was a great experience for me as I was paired with Caroline Masson from Germany, so as you can appreciate we had quite a following. I played well, made some great birdies, but had a couple too many mistakes.
Unfortunately Sunday was tough, I didn't get the breaks & my swing felt very uncomfortable.  It was a horrible feeling not knowing where the ball was going to end up. Nonetheless, another cut made and I'm gaining new experiences all the time.
I was told that the number of people that attended the event during the week was around 35,000! This kind of publicity and support is fantastic for women's golf and it was a privilege to be a part of. :)
Next stop....Holland.
