A short 5 hour sleep at home before setting off early on the bus to Gatwick. I then flew to Vienna where there was a bus waiting for us to drive to Brezno in Slovakia which took 4hrs! A long day of travelling but I finally arrived at Gray Bear golf course on a ski resort in the mountains!
Hannah, Sahra and I decided to have a lazy morning before playing the front 9 to get a feel for the place. I don't think I've ever seen greens like it, they definitely resembled the hilly surroundings.
We played the whole course on Wednesday, enjoying the beautiful views but spending most of our time mapping the greens as they were very very tricky. To give you an idea, you could land the ball 6ft from the pin, next thing you know it's rolled to 45ft!
I knew that it was going to be another tough week, as I still wasn't comfortable with my game and it's the type of course where you could be made to look very stupid if you were slightly off target.
Friday proved that, the course didn't take any prisoners, my driver was naughty and I had two 3 putts and a 4 putt. I managed to steady the ship on my back 9 but the damage was already done.
I decided to leave my driver in the bag for my 2nd round, got off to a great start, birdying the 1st. Unfortunately that's where it ended, a quadruple on a par 3 2nd knocked the wind out of me and it was an up hill struggle from there. My back had also felt tired despite having Physio on Tuesday. It could be a sign that I've played too many consecutive tournaments than my body is used to. I took full advantage of missing the cut, had a massage and rested all day Sunday. I also decided that with my recent struggles on the golf course with my swing, I needed to have someone on the bag who could help put things right. Thankfully Neil (who helped me through Tour School) was available to come and help with my next 2 events.
